other blogs to help me out

This blog is interesting simply because it shows me the updated logo that will accompany the Disney/MGM name change. I don't think it's that great.

A second blog that I discovered is run by the Orlando Sentinel! I'm surprised that a newspaper has a blog, although I shouldn't be. Newspapers have to adapt too!
I really appreciate the comment by one member who emphatically declared that stock prices will go down because of the name change. I agree: why in the world would you remove recognition that comes with a name like "MGM"?!

news articles

After some research, I discovered the name "Disney's Hollywood Studios" wasn't the only name in consideration for the new changes to be made in 2008.
This article covers the other options, including some information on how Disney secured nearly 20 domain names in anticipation of the upcoming changes.
The Reel Story behind MGM name change.

This article was also helpful, even though it supports the name change.

I also found a forum post about the name change being false! I got excited only to find out that it was false. forum

These two are fabulous! I'm surprised I didn't hear about them earlier.
They gossip and critique Hollywood cinemas. If it weren't for blogs like this that continue the education of yesterday's popular films, we'd forget all about them. Well, except for the universities, but that costs money!

From Disney's viewpoint, here's a site dedicated to explaining the name change, and details on what Exactly the new name will change. Highlights on next year's plans which will include new rides, characters, and most importantly~ new movies.
Disney Hollywood Studios

I even found a neat site called The Hollywood Reporter. They report on the latest news in Hollywood- not gossip. There is info on the highest ranked movies, television shows, theme parks, musicals, etc.
I found a blurb on MGM.

related discussion forums

I was lucky to find a fantastic forum on MGM Studios' site! The first thing I noticed was how I disagreed with most everyone who was 'discussing.' Everyone seems to be thrilled about the
Disney-MGM name change
...except me.

Here's a neat forum offered through CollegeNET.
In the entertainment section, I discovered Courtney who attended a "Classic Hollywood" themed prom. It wouldn't hurt to ask a question or two. I'm curious to see what high school students think about the 'classic' definition.

PUR4100

This year, I am a senior at UF <3
My final assignment for a public relations writing course consists of a campaign analysis for the company of my choice. Of course, I chose MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer) with a focus on The Golden Age of Hollywood! I've always been fascinated with the fashion and lifestyles of the 1930s and 40s.

Today I am sharing my campaign analysis idea with you. I chose to focus on building a new addition to the current MGM theme park.

MGM recently changed their name to "Disney Hollywood Studios" but failed to recognize its own beginnings in Hollywood cinema. MGM was actually the second major film studio to exist during the silent film era. Without an emphasis on MGM as a brand name, today's park will eventually lose this rich history just as MGM lost its place in the name of the park.

I feel that a new addition to the park that honors this pioneering stage will be educational and highly interesting as well.

Thanks to this new blog I've started, you'll be able to follow me through the formations of a professional media kit. I'll try to keep it interesting with fancy pictures and quotes.
Au Revoir!
